LEDs can be like a “box of chocolates you never know what your going to get” Spectrum matters and as avid reefers we only choose the highest quality Cree LEDs with the best spectrum. We recommend adding the XP-G to the XP-E to simulate a High Noon effect. We have ours on full (1200mA) for 4 hours a day with a 1 hour ramp up and ramp down or 6 hours total. Its spectrum is perfect for growth. Our XP-G provides the Chlorophyll A & B in the Zooxanthellae Algae the right wavelengths for photosynthesis.
Our Premium LEDs offer you the best spectrum and brightness for the money and is our standard for referencing. The XP-G Cool Whites we select are a crisp 7.5K not the more yellow 5-6 K more commonly found. This gives your corals the best coloration and spectrum for growth. The Cree CP-Gs are mounted on a high quality LuxDrive 20mm Star. This star is stamped with the LED Bin and has one of the best thermal conductivity properties of any star available. Thermal management is key when using high performance LEDs like the XP-G. The cooler your LED stays the longer it will last
Our Regular Option is great for budget builds. The big difference is colour temp. The Cool Whites may have a slightly lower colour temp. These are the same 3 watt Cree XP-G LEDs found every where else. The LEDs are also mounted on a less expensive star for added savings.
