Cree XP-G High Noon Kit

Home / Cree XP-G High Noon Kit

Our High Noon Kit provides that extra boost of PAR the natural reefs receive between 10-2. We specifically chose the Cree XP-G as it provides more light than the XP-E and has a spectrum with a very nice 450 nm spike which is essential for photosynthesis. Also the Cool White XP-Gs tend to be a bit warmer than the Cool White XR-E which helps even out the white spectrum. We do not recommend using neutral or warm white for two reasons. First of all, most of this warm spectrum is blocked by the first 30 feet of water and secondarily warm whites look terrible like you poured a bunch of lemonade or other yellow substance in your tank. Those who have used Warm Whites need extra Royal Blue to balance things out and in almost all cases were unhappy with the results. In a setup with several hundred LEDs a couple Warm Whites wont hurt but we feel that the same effect is better achieved with the XP-G High Noon.

We have our High Noon Kit tied to the APEX Controller. On our personal set up we use two High Noon Kits on a six foot long tank. One on each side. The ramp up period is 120 minutes where the XP-Gs have a very gradual sunrise. They are then on full for four hours with a two hour sunset. We also added a random intensity function to simulate cloud movement during the four hours. See our APEX Programming for more details.
